Activity of the Marshal of the Lodzkie Region

The Marshal of the Łódź Region takes part in the work of two Commissions: ENVE and COTER.
1. ENVE Commission
The Marshal serves the function of the First Vice Chairman of the Commission. In his work, he pays attention to the following areas of action, which are a priority for the Region:
renewable energy
healthcare
circular economy
environmental protection programmes
The Marshal accepted the function of reporter for two reports on the ENVE Commission:
“Renewable energy: an important player in the European power market” – (ENVE – V/27)
“Mid-term evaluation of the LIFE programme” – (ENVE-VI/016)
Moreover, in 2012, an away meeting was held of the Commission in Uniejów, hosted by the Marshal. The meeting was devoted to the presentation of the technical and economic advantages connected with the use of geothermal waters and biomass for the purpose of generation of heat energy.
2. COTER Commission
In particular, the Marshal is involved in the work connected with:
municipal policy
transport
territorial co-operation
Within the framework of his involvement, he undertakes activities such as:
he took part in the Sixth European Summit of Regions and Cities in Athens on 6-9 March 2014
he took part in the World Summit of Regions “World Summit Climate and Territories”, where he took part in the work on a joint declaration of participants on transport in Lyon – 1-2 July 2015
he took part in the Forum of the Committee of the Regions devoted to EU programmes for cities in Amsterdam – 30-31 May 2016
he took part in the Seventh European Summit of the Regions and Cities in Bratislava – 8 July 2016, during which he contributed to the work on the Bratislava Declaration concept, devoted to an increase of investment in Europe for the purpose of stimulation of cohesion, sustainable growth and creation of jobs in the cities and regions
3. Other activities
Apart from his involvement in the work of the Commissions, the Marshal is also a member of two inter-regional groups of the Committee of the Regions:
Inter-regional Group of Underdeveloped Regions
Inter-regional Health Group
Moreover, he also participates in the Knowledge Exchange Platform – KEP, which is a form of co-operation between the European Committee of the Regions and the General Directorate of the European Commission for Research and Innovation (DG RTD). Its purpose is to present new solutions in the field of research and development, innovative products and best practices in response to social challenges faced by local and regional authorities in Europe. The topics of the events organized in 2017 will be energy and innovations in the public sector. The Knowledge Exchange Platform operates, inter alia, through the following cyclical events: thematic seminars organized in Brussels by the Committee and DG RTD, as well as partner events taking part in the regions, organized at the local level by a member of the Committee of the Regions.
