Project objective

The objective of the “European Regions for Synergy in Circular Economy” project is, at the first stage, examination of the potential and infrastructure, the possible connections between enterprises in various sectors (in particular with regard to smart specializations), and an analysis of available financial instruments –within the framework of both structural funds and investment funds or preferential credits.

At the second stage, the purpose will be the establishment of a new framework for optimum use of funds for research and innovations, for the development of a circular economy, and the establishment of a system of support for projects which scored highly in competitions announced under the Horizon 2020 Programme, but were not awarded financing due to limited funds

According to its objectives, the SCREEN Project will contribute to:

involvement of regional entities in joint undertakings aimed at the increase of synergy in the circular economy
establishment of trans-national co-operation for the development
maximization of investments by supporting enterprising initiatives.

Activities within the project

The activities under SCREEN will use developing branches of industry to encourage underdeveloped regions to support newly established, innovative entities and their expansion into international markets.

The consortium consists of, inter alia, entities from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece and the Netherlands.

Financing

The project is financed from the funds of the Horizon 2020 Programme, under the Industrial Leadership theme; the project type is Coordination and Support Action.

The value of the project amounts to: EUR 1,771,865.00
Including the value financed by the EU: EUR 1,742,747.50
Budget for the Łódź Region: EUR 101,000.00

Period of project implementation

November 2016 – October 2018

Cooperation

Our objective is to establish a regional network of experts in a closed-circuit economy, originating from both the academic environment and practitioners. We welcome entrepreneurs from the recycling and power sectors, representatives of communal authorities from the Łódź region and scientists.
